From 31 August to 3 September 2021, the International Association of Women’s Museum (IAWM) will celebrate the 6th International Conference of Women’s Museums under the title “And still we* create” and hosted by the Frauenmuseum Hittisau, Austria.
The Conference is linked to the project Birth Cultures: A Journey through European History and Traditions around Birth and Maternity, co-funded by the European Union. This synergy will allow to strengthen collaboration and share information on best practices, both European and non-European, for mutual understanding and learning.
Guadalupe Aldrete, Natalie Fend & Magdalena Türtscher, Eva-Maria Kraft, Barbara Husar and Ronja Svaneborg are some of the artists invited; medical and obstetrical staff will also be present, including Dr. med. Stefanie Schmid-Altringer, of the BIRTH CAFÉ campaign and Ágnes Géreb, a Hungarian gynecologist/midwife and psychologist.
Participation to the lectures, film screenings, performative live acts and the guided tour of the current exhibition is open to everyone interested. Due to the pandemic, the conference will be hybrid and it will be possible to attend the conference in person or virtually from all over the world!
